Different Ways To Say 'Go To Hell' In French

In French, there are many different ways to express anger or tell people off.

The phrase "go to hell" is, as you'd expect, one of these and there are several French expressions that equate to it.

It should go without saying that these expressions are not something you should say flippantly, so be careful using them!

So how do you say "hell" in French?

'Hell' in French is L'enfer (enfer = inferno). The literal translation of "go to hell" is va en enfer, but unlike English, this is not common.

Here are some of the most common equivalents used by French speakers today:

  1. Va au diable ! – Literally "Go to the devil!"
  2. Va te faire voir ! – Equivalent to "Get lost!" or a ruder "Screw off!"
  3. Fous le camp ! – Strongly telling someone to "Get out of here!"
  4. Casse-toi ! – A rude way of saying "Get lost!"
  5. Dégage ! – Another direct way to say "Get out!"
  6. Va te faire foutre ! – Very vulgar, akin to "Go f*** yourself!"
  7. Fiche le camp ! – Less intense than "Fous le camp," but still means "Get lost!"
  8. Fous-moi la paix ! – "Leave me alone!" with a strong tone.
  9. Tire-toi ! – Similar to "Casse-toi," meaning "Get out of here!"
  10. Crève ! – Harsh, meaning "Die!" or "Drop dead!"

Most of these phrases are extremely offensive, especially in certain contexts. You may get away with using them casually with friends as a joke, but always exercise caution.
